Snow Day Packets

Hey gang!

Just a reminder that your Snow Day packet was due Monday. I'll still take them through the end of the week, but since most of you are checking out early for prom Friday, tomorrow is the last day I will take them.

From now until the AP Exam (on Monday, May 12 at 8am) we'll be practicing melodic and harmonic dictation almost daily. In addition to ear training, we'll also be flying through more analysis and part-writing techniques. Get ready. :)

Modes & More...

Hey guys,

This week we'll be wrapping up our 3rd unit which covers Scale Degree Names (Tonic, etc.) and Pitch Collections. Remember that the term "Pitch Collections" refers to a series of pitches, including scales (pentatonic, all minors, etc.) and modes (Dorian, Locrian, etc.).

Check out the front page of your packet for a list of terms with which you should be familiar (p. 33).

We'll shoot for a quiz on Wednesday.

Make sure you're practicing/thinking about dictation. We'll be practicing daily, but it's important that you spend time outside class on these skills. Check out www.teoria.com for practice.
